History

On May 8, 1954 representatives from nine West Michigan camera clubs met at the Scott Art and Garden Center in Lansing to consider forming an organization that would combine their talents and resources about photography.  From that meeting grew the Southwestern Michigan Council of Camera Clubs (SWMCCC).

Southwestern Michigan Council of Camera Clubs sponsors photography competitions for the members of camera clubs associated with SWMCCC and conducts the Summer Weekend of Photography and Digital Imaging.

SWMCCC SPRING 2013 COMPETITION RESULTS

Dennis Hafer Wins an SWMCCC Oscar Award

When you're hot, you're hot and Dennis Hafer has the sizzle.  Achieving four Honors in a single category is something that is definitely hard to do.  Especially when there were only five Honors total and that included the top three place winners also.  Dennis had four of the five Honors in Digital Portraits, including the First Place and Second Place Winners.  Getting those four Honors earned Dennis a SWMCCC Oscar Award, only the second one won by a Twin City Camera Club Member in the past forty years that anyone can remember.

Randy Wegener, SWMCCC Vice President of Competition, put it this way.
"It takes 4 Honors in an individual category to earn an Oscar.  Earning an Oscar has never been an easy task as many have strived to achieve one and have often fell short by 1 Honor.  There were 55 digital portraits entered in the 2009 Summer Competition, 5 were Honors and 19 were acceptances.  Of the 5 Honors Dennis took 1st Place, Second Place and 2 Honors, which earned him an Oscar.  An Oscar is a small SWMCCC Medal but few have received them."

We want to add our own Congratulations to Dennis.  You represented TCCC very well.  We are proud of you and very happy for you and as Gorson Drake says "You're my Hero."   Well, you're our "Hero" too...    Way to Go Dennis, you deserve it. 

 As an added note, if you check the awards above, you will see that all of the Digital Category "Place Awards" were garnered by Dennis Hafer.
